This tree is characterised by its impressive size, with a broad crown and a sturdy trunk. It can be found in forests and woodlands across tropical and southern Africa, as well as the southwestern Arabian peninsula. It is commonly seen in highland regions up to 2500 m. When in their early stages, the large, ovate leaves display a captivating shade of red. These delectable fruits can be found growing on the trunk and lower branches.
