A tiny, dry deciduous tree native to Madagascar, with a compact crown and smooth, swelling trunk. The orchid-like blossoms are white and crimson and bloom during the dry season. In cultivation, it thrives in warm temperate or tropical climates in USDA Zones 10 and 11. Before sowing, scarify the seeds or soak them briefly in hot water.
